  1. What is SPENVIS?
  2. SPENVIS stands for SPace ENVironment Information System. It is a WWW based interactive tool providing space engineers and scientists with information on the space environment and its likely effects on space systems. With SPENVIS, you can generate spacecraft orbits and then evaluate the orbital environment over a specified mission. You can also make some first-order predictions of the space environmental effects. SPENVIS is also a place-holder for space environment information available on the Internet.

  3. What are the features of SPENVIS?
  4. An important feature of SPENVIS is the possibility to link an orbit generator to a large collection of models of the space environment.

Another feature is the SPENVIS working environment. Each user has a permanent personal account. This approach ensures that the inputs to the models and the results of the computations are not lost when leaving SPENVIS. Comparison of different runs is easy thanks to the possibility to define several projects, each characterised by its own set of inputs.

  5. How do I subscribe?
  6. Simply fill in this form. Please take the time to fill all the queries (it takes less than 3 minutes!), it allows us to better serve you.

  7. What is the access policy?
  8. Please consult the Terms and Conditions, here.

  9. How can I send feedback to the SPENVIS team (suggestions, comments, bug reports,...)?
  10. You can use the bottom tool bar included on all the SPENVIS model pages to either report a bug (), access the SPENVIS forum () or contact the SPENVIS team ().

  11. What kind of software do I need to run SPENVIS?
  12. In order to use the SPENVIS system on this server, you do not need any additional software, just a client application such as FireFox, Internet Explorer or Safari for example. SPENVIS is known to work fine on a wide variety of browsers. You do not need a Java enabled browser, as SPENVIS produces standard HTML.

  13. How can I increase my maximum number of projects, get extra CPU time or additionnal disk space?
  14. If you need to increase your maximum number of projects or get more CPU time or disk space, you can send a request through email at the following address : spenvis_team@aeronomie.be.
