SPENVIS stands for SPace ENVironment Information System. It is a WWW based interactive tool providing space engineers and scientists with information on the space environment and its likely effects on space systems. With SPENVIS, you can generate spacecraft orbits and then evaluate the orbital environment over a specified mission. You can also make some first-order predictions of the space environmental effects. SPENVIS is also a place-holder for space environment information available on the Internet.
An important feature of SPENVIS is the possibility to link an orbit generator to a large collection of models of the space environment.
Another feature is the SPENVIS working environment. Each user has a permanent personal account. This approach ensures that the inputs to the models and the results of the computations are not lost when leaving SPENVIS. Comparison of different runs is easy thanks to the possibility to define several projects, each characterised by its own set of inputs.
